Please note that 10% of all Kentucky Horse Photo sales goes to Old Friends, the retirement farm for champion thoroughbred horses located in Georgetown, Ky.
EscapedFromNewYork was one of the horses rescued from Ernie Paragallo's New York farm. He arrived at Old Friends with no name and in bad condition. While helping the young horse get stronger, Old Friends held a "name the horse" contest, which was won by Fred Jones of Lexington, Ky. Jones originally sent in the name "EscapeFromNewYork," which won. However, because that was a copyrighted name from a movie, the "d" was added to make his official name become "EscapedFromNewYork." Since then, Snake, as he is called on the farm after Kurt Russell's character in the movie, has filled out and is enjoying retirement. His name has also been officially registered with the Jockey Club. (Snake1)
